AGBO FELLOWSHIP
The annual award established in 2018, consists of a mentorship with the creative team at AGBO for a deserving filmmaker selected by Anthony Russo & Joe Russo.
Slamdance alumni Anthony and Joe Russo began the annual AGBO Fellowship in 2018 to pay forward the support they received in launching their careers at the festival. We thank Anthony and Joe for their ongoing commitment to our community, as well as AGBO partner Angela Russo-Otstot and team members Marian Koltai-Levine, Sarah Caruso, Casey Lapidus and Sophia Russo.
AGBO is an independent studio founded by filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo, dedicated to producing bold, creator-driven film, television, and transmedia projects across genres and platforms. The studio has generated over $7 billion in global box office and delivered more than 15 number-one films and television series worldwide.
AGBO actively mentors and collaborates with rising storytellers through Gozie Agbo, the studio’s banner dedicated to championing new voices and independent storytelling. Through this initiative, AGBO has supported filmmakers including Daniel Kwan, Sam Hargrave, Natalie Erika James, Isaiah Saxon, and Frank E. Flowers — whose latest project, The Bluff, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban, will premiere on Amazon in February 2026. Continuing a tradition of creative partnership that traces back to early champions like Steven Soderbergh, who helped spotlight the Russos’ work at Slamdance.
Current and upcoming projects include the Mercenary series and TYGO (both part of the Extraction universe), The Whisper Man, John Rambo, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars. Across all its work, AGBO remains committed to fostering innovative storytelling and supporting the next generation of filmmakers.
