Slamdance Film Festival Producer

Position Type: Full-time, four-month contract
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: Monthly compensation range: $6,000 to $8,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Overview:
The Slamdance Film Festival Producer will collaborate closely with the Director, Head of Administration, and President to lead the physical production of Slamdance 2025. The Producer will be responsible for integrating the vision of the festival with its audience and filmmakers, ensuring that the mission of Slamdance is upheld through accessibility, inclusion, and innovation.
This position reports to both the Director and President. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event production, demonstrating leadership, creativity, and organizational skills. The role requires an understanding of how to elevate Slamdance’s mission while managing the logistical aspects of festival production.
This full-time position runs from November to February and requires flexibility, as extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, will be necessary. Candidates must be located within commuting distance of Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director to ensure operational efficiencies and deliver a successful festival program.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with the Slamdance team, programmers, sponsors, and partners to ensure collaboration and alignment of goals.
  • Translate the festival’s vision into actionable strategies, coordinating with key stakeholders in marketing, communications, scheduling, ticketing, venue management, transportation, and festival operations.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive production culture, ensuring that team members thrive and organizational objectives are met.
  • Review and enhance internal processes to improve effectiveness and operational flow where needed.
  • Develop and implement business plans that align with Slamdance’s mission while adhering to budgetary constraints typical of a nonprofit organization.
  • Monitor production performance, implement corrective measures when necessary, and present clear, concise reporting to leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event production, with preference given to candidates with experience in film festivals, the arts, or the entertainment industry.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a hands-on, highly collaborative, team-driven, artist-run environment.
  • Strong program management skills with the ability to set, meet, and exceed goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing limited budgets while delivering high production value.
  • A passion for and understanding of Slamdance’s mission, with enthusiasm for producing its first Los Angeles-based film festival.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying a focused vision that inspires and motivates others.
  • A spirited, accessible work style that fosters trust and respect within the team.
